Surgical procedures for the transplantation of new hair are called hair transplantation instead of shed or sparse hair due to environmental factors, hormonal imbalances, genetics, stress or diseases.It is the transplant process taken from the person’s own hair tissues (autologous).With the hair transplantation, one’s self-confidence and view of life change significantly.
How To Do Hair Transplantation?
There are 2 different hair transplantation methods for hair transplantation.These;
Hair Transplantation with FUT Method
This method is the classic hair transplantation method. In this method, the doctor, under local anesthesia, a 7-10 size strip of skin over the back of the neck is removed.This opened skin is sutured to be put back together. Then, the strands on this skin strip are planted one by one in the balding area.In this method there is no need to shave the hair.
Hair Transplantation With FUE Method
Local anesthesia is also used in the FUE (Folicular Unite Extraction) method. The strands are removed one by one and planted in the balding area with a special tool. In this method, as in the other method, there are no sutures or incisions.In the FUE method, which is the most popular hair transplantation method, healthy hair on the nape part is taken and planted on the same day in the hairless section.Wounds that can occur in the Fue method heal easily and quickly.There is no scar after hair transplantation.In the FUE method, 75-80% of the hair opening is closed in a single session.In case of intense hair loss, a second session may be required. The operation takes about 4-5 hours.
What Should Be Done After Hair Transplantation?
The first transplanted hair is shed after a certain time. This shedding leads to the formation of new and healthy hair. Hair normally grows on average 0.75-1 cm per month. Therefore, it may take some time for new hair to grow. After 4.5-5 months, the changes in the hair are seen more clearly. Hair can be cut and dyed 1 month after sowing. The most important factor in this process is the care of the hair. Applying different chemicals or leaving hair unattended may lead to loss of hair again. Hair protection creams and oils can be applied.
Wearing a hat or sunscreen with high protective properties may be recommended for 1-2 weeks after hair transplantation. At the end of 1 year, the hair planted will have a natural and healthy appearance.
