What is Hypnosis?

The word hypnosis is derived from the word hypnos, which is used in ancient Greeks and means sleep.  Also known as trans. Hypnosis can be seen as a state of awake awareness (or consciousness), where a person is absorbed by various internal experiences, such as emotions, cognition, and imagination, where his attention breaks from his immediate surroundings.  Hypnosis involves focusing and focusing on a point with the realization of imagination. With the use and acceptance of the recommendations, a hypnotic reality is created between the specialist and the patient. Normally, every person can be in a trans state during the day. Hypnosis is part of our common human experience, such as getting lost in a good book, crossing a familiar path without being consciously remembered, crossing a known path while performing prayer or meditation and performing creative activity. What is Hypnosis?

However, the main benefit of the hypnotic condition is the increased effectiveness of suggestions and access to mind-body connections or unconscious processing. Hypnosis can not only be used to reduce emotional distress, but can also have a direct impact on the patient’s pain experience.

Hypnosis is not a therapy in itself, but it can be a tool that works in the same way as a drug, making it easier to administer treatment. Hypnosis does not make the impossible possible. However, it can help patients believe and experience what is possible for them to succeed. Hypnotic states have been used for healing since the existence of mankind. However, because hypnosis can be misused for so-called entertainment and has been portrayed as a mysterious or magical practice in the media, hypnosis arises from the out of control and insecurity. However, recent advances in neuroscience have allowed us to begin to understand what might happen when someone enters a hypnotic state. Evidence suggests that hypnosis is used as a useful tool to help patients and healthcare workers manage various conditions, particularly anxiety or pain. Experts provide good and comprehensive information on recent research on neural correlations of hypnosis. The study of hypnosis is complex and many factors such as context, expectation, or personality affect the hypnotic response as well as the recommendations used.

What is Hypnosis Done For?

The very important potential of hypnosis in changing perception has brought hypnosis to the forefront as a complementary medical treatment. With this application, the body relaxes in general and increases self-confidence at high levels.  It is important to approach the process with an open mind for successful self-hypnosis or prescribed hypnotherapy. Here’s what you need to do:

  • You need to be hypnotized,
  • You should not be overly skeptical,
  • You should not be afraid of being hypnotized,
  • You should not over analyze the relevant processes.

You also need to think about why you are going to hypnosis yourself, what messages you want to give yourself and what ideas you want to place in your subconscious.  When you reach a hypnotic state, you should study some of the short phrases you will use. Some examples of personal hypnotic expressions include;

  • To reduce stress at work, you can use comfort at work.

  • Try using the eye of your mind to visualize the up, down, or side movements of an object.  Watch the item swing back, forward, up, or down in your mind.
  • Count down from 10 in a soft, slow and monotonous way and say that you feel relieved (like 10 relieves, 9 relieved) after each number.

  • Count back to 10 slowly but more energetically over time.  In your hypnotic state, reverse the process you used before counting down.  Tell yourself some positive messages between each number. For example, when I wake up 1, I will feel like I have a full night’s sleep.
  • When you reach 10, you will feel fully awake and vigorous.  Slowly let your mind capture the events of the day and continue to feel refreshed.

How does Hypnosis Work?

Based on Sigmund Freud’s work, the human mind can be divided into three distinct fields of consciousness.  These; conscious, subconscious and unconscious. It may be useful to think of each part of the mind on a depth scale.  Freud believed that the conscious mind was the top or shallowest part of the brain, and was directly responsible for the meaning of events in which we were aware of similar levels of stress.  The subconscious mind is at a deeper level in the subconscious. It is therefore not easily accessible and controls the response in some situations or circumstances based on what has been learned through feeling or experience in the past.  It also regulates our basic bodily functions, such as breathing. The unconscious mind is the deepest part of the mind and is much more difficult to reach. It may contain memories such as suppression of traumatic events. Hypnosis works by reaching a comfortable state in which it is possible to dive deeper into the mind and to uncover or reprogram the subconscious in a clean way.  Through physical and mental relaxation, hypnosis allows people to reach conscious minds and bring positive thoughts or ideas to their unconscious thoughts. After awakening from the hypnotic state, new ideas and ideas in the subconscious will ultimately affect the conscious mind and lead to alternating behaviors.
